(Pers.s. Mamma at the Bluff. J , London, August 12. The trial of Boulanger is watched with absorbing interest by tlie populace of Paris. In addition to the treasonable correspondence already produced, the Public Prosecutor has now made specific charges against Boulanger having sold national decorations in the army and public service for large sums of money, which were embezzled and used, to pay the debts of Bou-' langer's father and support his numerous mistresses- The evidence has created a profound sensation throughout France. Mr J. P. Maxwell, one of the New Zealand Railway Commissioners, has accepted an invitation to attend the Railway Congress to be held in Paris in connection with the Exhibition. Sir Graham Berry, Agent-General for Victoria, is endeavoring, in accordance with instructions received from his Government, to secure the services of an expert medical man to visit the Colony advise the best means of suppressing epidemic diseases. The report that Mrs Roberts, a wealthy lady residing in Australia, had presented £125,000 to the Welsh Caivinistic Methadust Church, is now officially denied. The papers found by 3eneral Grenfell amongst the effects of Wadel-Njumi, late leader of the dervish party in Egypt, include important documents which proye that Wad-el-Njumi had taken a very prominent part in the later Mahdist movement for some years. The Governmentsteamer Albatross has returned from Batavia River with a boat belonging to J. Williams, who was murdered by his crew. The boat was found twelve miles from the river high on sand. The provisions and diugy had also been taken. It is unknown when or how Williams was murdered, but it is supposed he was thrown overboard soon after leaving there.
