Church Anniversary

The thirteenth anniversary of the j Feildiug Primitive Methodist Church passed off very successfully. On Sunday two excellent sermons wer« preached by the Her. W. Tiusley, of the Wealeyan Church, Palmerston North, to large and attentive congregatious, who contributed liberally in the offeriugs taken up in aid of the church funds. The Annual soiree took place last evening, and was never more numerously patronised, the visit ore hailing from nearly all the surrounding settlements. The tea tables were furnished in a most ample and sumptuous manner leaving nothing to be desired, and wers presided at by the following ladies : — Mesdames Gould, Andrew, Worsfold, Gower, Fidler, and the Misses Streeter, Bird, Pupe, Parr, Harris, Heald, and Fidler. These succeeded in nrell satisfying every one present, notwithstanding that there were three relays, and that every participator in the excellent provisions appeared to be well prepared for their enjoyment. At the meeting held afterwards, the chair was taken by Mr J, C. Thompson, the attendance was unusually large. Afte • the chairman's opening remarks, prayer was offered by the Eev W. Tiusley, and then the Key. Mr Harris read the annual report of the financial position &0.. of the church. Address were deliyered by the Eevs. Murray, Tinsley, Harris aud Messrs Gould, Adams, and Linton. The speeches were interspersed with anthems, Sankey's hymns &c, by a full choir, The usual votes of thanks were accorded to each and all who had asoissted in making the anniversary a success, and the proceedings were brought to a close in the usual devotional manner.
