Concert at Taonui
Last night a concert was held at the Upper Taonui School-house in aid of th« school funds. There was a crowded attendance, and the affair was in every way a great success. The patrons included a good number from Feilding, and some from Bunnythorpe, Mangaone, Aorangi, &c. The vocalists were the Misses McDonell, L. Bailey, Thompson (2), Fuszard (from Napier) and Kurnmer ; and Messrs Poad, Keen, Beading, Eade and Dixon, the piano accompanists being MrH Whitton, and the Misses Fraser, Kummer and McDonnell. The entertainment concluded with a highly laughable farce, in which the characters were borne by Messrs Porthouse, Fraser and Keen. A dance followed, in which a large number took part, and which everyone much enjoyed. The families of the Messrs Bailey, also Mr and Mrs Powell, kindly provided refreshments and did all in their power to make every visitor feel at home. Altogether this was one of the most enjoyable entertainments ever held at Upper Taonui.
