Pohangma Notes
The settlers here are well satisfied with the increase they are likely to have to have to their flocks this season, the lambing having already commenced very favorably. Bushfelling in the Wanganui Harbor Board Block and the Foxton Small Farm Settlement is being pushed on rapidly, and in every case where the land is ready fencing is going on at a great rate while this fine weather lasts. The Pohangina road is being out up with the heavy traffic on it. There was a meeting of the school committee last Saturday. Present — Messrs Hunt (chairman), Durling, Holly, and Sinclair. After the usual formal business it was resolved, That as soon as the new school-house is built the present schoolhouse be used for the future as a play shed to shelter the children during all weathers. The fruit trees are beginning to show abundance of blossoms. Mr Durling has some peach trees in his orchard a perfect mass of flowers. Grass is rather scarce but the new growth is coming on well. Several sections of land here have lately changed hand? at an advance. Anyone, can have good sport shooting kakas which are i» hundreds and fat as butter. . . '■■■'
