Produce Market

The -New Zealand Trade Review find Wellington price current, of July 13th.saysi— ; Plax. — Recent wet weather has retarded operations at the mills ; consequently only limited supplies have been coming forward. Loudon prices have fallen about £6 to £7 per ton, and local business . has therefore been very inactive. Medium quality is now worth about £17 10s per ton f.o.b. at Wellington. We regret to hear that great want of care is still manifested in the preparation of the fibre. Flour and Grain. — Local values of jfe^ flour have declined about 1 0s per ton, . owing to somewhat keen competition of Southern millers for a share of the trade. We quote stone-mill flour £9 5s to £9 10b, and roller-mill £10 to 'JBIO to 15s per ton. Milling Wheat may still be quoted 3s 8d to 3s 9d per bushel, but in no local demand. Fowls' Wheat is Id to 2d cheaper, being quoted 3s 5d to" 3s 7d. for. whole, grain, and 3s to 3s 3d for screenings. Fowls' Barley is selling to limited.extent at 3s per bushel. Oats remain firm at our last quotations of 3s to 3s ld per. bushel for good- feed. Maize is still in very limited demand at 3s 3d per. bushel. Oatmeal has lost part of the advance which we reported in our last issue, and is now quoted £14 10s to £15 per ton. Pollard and bran are in rather better supply, and are selling at £5 15s and £5 per ton respectively.. Fungus.-— No improvement can be noted yet, but on the arrival of the steamer Whampoa from China the market may be expected to harden a little. -The presont quotations is 3£d per lb.
