George Thomas and Co. report produce prices as follows: — There has been an active demand for potatoes during the week, which have advanced | quite 10/- per ton, and prices rule at £5 for Oamaru and £4 10/- to £4 16/---for other descriptions, Oatmeal has receded slightly, and we- quote £15 to £15 10/- per ton. Onions are very scarce, and any small parcels procurable readily command £18 per ton. Oats remain firm at 3/3 to 3/4 for bright feed samples ; Danish and Tartarian, 3/2 to 3/3. Fowls' wheat, good whole samples, 3/7 to 3/8 ; broken do, 3/4. Maize, 3/10 to 3/11. Feed barley, 2/10 ; seed barley, 3/6. Beans, 3/11 to 4/- ; peas, 3/10 to 8/11. Flour moves off slowly at £10 15/- for roller, and £10 per ton for stone process. Wheatmeal, £10 15/- per ton. Cheese, 4£d to o%&. according to quality. Hams and bacon, 8d per lb. Fresh butter, 9d to lOd per lb ; this is an improvement of Id per lb on last week s prices. Salt butter remains without inquiry, and no nominally worth 8d per lb. Eggs are very scarce, and find ready sale at 1/9 per dozen. • Fruit. — Owing to the cold and boisterous state of the weather the demand has fallen off considerably We quote Sydney oranges, 5/6 ; man-., darins, 13/-; lemons, 16/-; and pines, 15/- per case ; apples, 7/- to 10/- per case. To-day's shipment of bananas realised 2/- to 3/6 per bunch. Poultry are unaltered ; fowls' 2/9 ; ducks, 3/6 ; geese, 5/6 ; and turkeys, 6/- per pair.
