Thursday, June 27. Major Steward moved that the Educational Franchise Bill be read a second time, explaining that the measure practically was on the same lines as that submitted to the House on previous occasions. The Bill provided that "householders" meant every adult male or female person, owner, lessee, or tenant residing in any dwelling within a school district, The measure also provided for the repeal of the cumulative vote. The second reading waß agreed to. On the motion of the Treasurer, progress was reported for the purpose of bringing down the Imprest Supply Bill by message from the Governor. The Bill, providing for the granting of .£200,000 for services to the 31st March, 1890, was then passed through all its stagas. The consideration of the Estimates was resumed in Committee. The total vote of Class 2, (£113,022) was then passed. Friday, June 28. "The Auckland Gas Companies Bill, 1871," was introduced and read a first time. Replying to questions, Ministers said the Government did not intend to amend the Government Bailways Act in the direction of limiting the hours of labour of railway employees. — The Government would endeavor to obtain information from the Agent-General as to the best machinery used for dressing fibre. The following Bills were introduced : — Bill to repeal " The Contagious Diseases Act, 186S" (Grey), Dunedin Exhibition Publio Street Closing and Licensing Bill (HMop), Napier High School Leases Validation Bill (Ormond), Bill, to amend the conditions on which lands are held in certain settlements which have been recently established (Grey), Bill to regulate the admission of persons to practice in courts of law (Grey). Mr Barron gave notice to move for a gradual decrease year by year in the Property Tax. The House went into Committee to farther consider the Estimates. Justice Department. A lengthy diacussion ensued on item 150 (subsidy towards the publication of New Zealand law reports). Mr Hutohison moved' that the item be struck out, whioh was carried by 67 to 18, the item being thus struck out. The total vote of Class 4 (£107,078) was then amended. Progress was reported at 10.20, and the Hoxise'adjourned Ml TUesday,
