A Modern "Don Juan"

A case that is attracting great interest in Paris is before the Assize Court of the Seine. The accused is a " trigamist." A Paris correspondent says he lived a considerable time in England and the United States. He is a Frenchman, named Iriande, of reBpectable family, and by profession a ! photographer. He was destined for the army, but could not pass the examinations at St. Cyr, ao he entered the ranks, misconducted himself and deserted. He then fied to Belgium for a time, where ke mat a young woman, with whom he went to England. He n>arried her in Birmingham, and set up in that town as a photographer aud miniaturist. His gains were great, but ho quarrelled with his wife gave up his business, and embarked for America, where he again turned his talents to profitable account. He next returned to France. In Paris he successfully worked a new plau of photography for miniatures, aud became quite a society man, being received into the Noble Faubourg, and having duchesses aud marchionesses among his friends. Thauks to the match making energy aud tact of his fair and fashionable patronesses, Iriande was enabled to marry a young and wealthy widow, Madame Bruneau. The wedding took place in 1881. Iriande, however, soon got through most of the widow's money and numerous creditors came down upon him, so he escaped to America. He was lately arrested at Brighton end taken to Paris, where the magistrates have discovered that he had also contracted a marriage in the United States wi*h a Miss Nelly Pennoyer. This new " Don Juan" is fifty-five years old.
