Waituna Notes
{from: our own cokrespondent.] The severe weather we have had for the past week cr two has began to make the grass disappear very rapidly in paddocks that are heavily stocked, the late frosts being reckoned quite as severe as any yet felt in this district. I suppose this will in a measure account for the injury done to young fruit traes in this neighborhood by hares. One neighbor informs me he has about forty trees spoiled by th«m this season. "What do the advocate.", of a close season say to this? I 3 poor puss of more value than a crop of fruit ? There is & great quantity of bush being felled this yoar in this neighborhood, and fortunately without any serious aoci-lert so far. Mr John Paul got a nasty fall last week but I em glad to hear he is en the menJ, being able to leave his bed for a shoL-fc time. Mr Sam Sidditt has parted with his interest in lbs section at Beacon sfie.'d to Stuart Bros., who, 1 believe, intend to start felling shortly. The residents of Eeaconsfield and Waituna have let a contract for ths building of a church at Benson's corner, to be free to all denominations. This with a weekly service at Mr Murray's ves'dence, will give tbe seifclers a chance to attend Divins Service with greater convenience. One of our local blacksmiths has developed into quite a genius. Besides turning out a number of agricultural implements, be has invented two articles, which are likely to be heard of from the Patent Office before long.
