The Manchester Rifles will parade on Friday next, when they will be instructed in the new drill by Hergt. Major Maemillan. All members who desire to become efficient should be punctual in their attendance. The Minister for Defence has in contemplation the putting on officers commanding districts the whole charge of defence matters, whether pertaining to the permanent militia or volunteer arm of the service within their districts, It is probable that the example of the Manchester Rifles will be followed by some other corps in the colony, in regard to the presentation of medal prizes to be fired for.
