Feilding Drag Hounds

Last Wednesday the above hounds met at Malvern House, Halcombe, the residence of that genial and popular sportsman, Mr H. Lance. There were between 30 and 40 equestrians, who before leaving the house, did ample justice to the good things Mr Lance had so kindly provided for the inner man. Our line started from the boundary of Mr ¥. Y. Lethbridge's property, across Mr D. G. Riddiford's, round the Cemetery leaving it on tbe right, then across the road pointing towards the railway line, back again over Messrs Quarries and "Woodheads property, then running p?.rallel with the Sandon road for about a mile and a half, which finished one of the best runs we have had this season. Spills were rather numerous, and I am sorry to learn that Mr Rogers broke hia collar bone. This week I will mention those who were in the first flight and rode straight throughout. Mr Lance, on Merrilegs; Mr D. G. Riddiford, on Spartan ; Mr Lovejoy, on his well known Neck -or - Nothing ; ' Messrs Elkington, Edwards and Phillips, on horses whose names I do not know, and our huntsman, Dick Roake, on Hard Times. I am pleased to be able to say that we are going to hold a steeplechase meeting in Feilding, a general meeting is called for next Thursday when I shall be able to say more about it. Next week the hounds are at Sandon, and th© following Wednesday Turakina. On and Off
