The audience were somewhat impatient because the curtain was not raised until 8.20, which excused a certain amount of coldness during the first part ofthe show. We have to thank the Manawatu Daily Times for the following kindly notice : — The Feilding Star has just finished its seventh year of publication. Two halfacres wer» measured off, and one produced ten and tho other nine tons respectively, the crop thus averaging 19 tons par acre. The balance sheet for Feilding Borough for past year, as published in the Star, discloses a satisfactory state of affairs, and contains evidence that borough affairs are worked economically. We observe that the Feildmg Council also manage the Library and the Cemetery, and in these respects it compares somewhat favourably with other towns. Tho United States is the richest country m tho world, and it has gamed this distinction in comparatively a very short tune. Iv 1850 tho total wealth, of the United States was £1,686,000,000 that of Great Britain being £4,500,000,000. Last year the welth of Great Britain was about £9, 0i)0,000,000, or almost exactily double what it was in 1850; but the wealth of the United States had risen in 1880 to £7,760,000,000, and last year was nearly £11,000,000,000.
