Feilding Drag Hounds

Last Wednesday the fixture for the above hounds was the Endymion Hotel, Awahuri. It was not a nice day for a drag hunt, there being too much wind, consequently the scent did not lay as well as it might have done. Nevertheless a good day's sport was enjoyed by between i 30 and 40 members of the club. The , line was oyer a nice bit of hunting country of about three and a half miles. , Starting at Mr Whittle's gate, off|the San- , don road, over Mr Carr's paddocks, leav- , ing Mr Pascall's house on the right, and , finishing in the paddock at the front of the hotel. I shall refrain from mentioning names of the gentlemen who were to j the front at the finish, but I could not L help noticing the plucky way in which Miss A. Liddle rode to hounds, and I hope before the end of the season to see a few more ladies follow her good example. I , see that " Nimrod," in yesterday's Advocate, mentions that some of the members were inclined to over ride the hounds, and I am sorry to say he is quite correct, but as those gentlemen got a good talking to, I hope it won't occur again. Next 1 week the hounds meet at the residence of £ a true lover of sport — Mr H. Lance's, of Halcombe — where I hear a firat rate line l of country has been obtained. I thought , last week I should have had something to . say about the proposed steeplechase, but as the Committee do not meet until Monday next there ia nothing definitely settled. On and Off.
