At the inquiry yesterday into the fire; which destroyed the Waipawa Hotel, the following rider was added to the yerdict t ■— " There is no evidence before tiie jury | how the fire originated. , The jury were: 'of opinion tbe proper tune to raise the | question of value is when the proposal ia made, but when the company accepts the proposal and takes the pretmums ifc ; should, when a fire occurs, pay up,' and; not raise the question of over-insurance.'** The jury was composed of some of the* leading business men.
The newnmatious for the Austialian Jockey Club Sires' "Produce Stakes- of 1 893, Which closed on May 2, number ten. They are: Grand Flaneur, Monmouth, Epigram, Trenton, First King-,. New-min-ster, Bobinson Crusoe, Mactuu-Henry, Chester, and Tndent. It is a matter for regret that the New Zealand Stud Company did not nominate Nordenfeldt for this event.
