Members of the Manchester Rifles are reminded of the parade on Friday at 8.30

a.m,

In order to encourage individual target practice tho Minister for Defence has decided to distribute medals to the best shots in Volunteer corps. The conditions are as follows : —

1. A gold medal for the best shot in each Island.

2. a gold and silver medal for the second best shot in each Island.

3. A silver medal for the best shot in each district, excluding the holders of the medals detailed in par 1 and 2. 4. The medal in each case to become the property of the highest scorer if won three times in succession, or five times at intervals.

5. Marksmen who must be efficient volunteers are only eligible to compete for these medals.

6. The distances to be fired will be 200 yards standing, 300 yards kneeling, 500 yards in any position, 10 rounds at each distance.

7. The competition in each district to take place between Ist January and 31st March on such day as may be appointed, and to be under the personal superintendance of an officer of the permanent or district staff.

8. Original scores, signed by the officer to be forwarded to the Defence Office, through the officer commanding the district.

9. Targets the same as provided in pamphlet on musketry instruction. 10. Officers are not eligible to compete for these medals.

11. Ammunition for the competition will be refunded to corps. 12. Ties will be decided as provided by Musketry Instruction, 1887.
