The Fielding Star. TUESDAY, MAY 21, 1889. Modesty
Tiie following deliciously cool par ; is from the Manawatu Times of Saturday:— " One matter which the Palmerston Chamber of Commerce might very well take iuto its consideration has been frequently mentioned to us by ratepayers in Wards Nos. 5 and 6 of the Manchester Road District. It is alleged by them that the roads in the locality have been constructed with the main idea of converging to Feilding as a centre, and that while Palmerston is the centre to which the settlers desire access, the portions which would giye this are still unconstructed and likely to remain so."
Why the settlers on the Manchester Block should be expected to make roads for the benefit of Palmerston is one of these things " no fellah can understand." It would be much better if our contemporary would instruct the Palmeraton Chamber of Commerce to direct the Manawatu Road Board to complete the roads from Palmerston to Bunnythorpe.
