FOXTON RACES.

Miserable weather attended the Foxton Racing Club's Autumn meeting, and the excursion train frooi Wanganui was very poorly patronised. Altogether only about 300 persons attended. The Autumn Handicap was a magnificent race between Cupid, Camomile, and Ahua, who were the only starters, and it was well worth going miles to see such a splendid finish. One noticeable feature of the day's proceedings was the favorites pulled oif every event, consequently there were no large dividends paid, £& 18s being the highest. The sum of i' 992 was put through the machine, Following are the results : — Hurdle Race, 30 soys; second horse, 5 soys from the stakes ; 1£ miles. Mr D. Scott's Ahua (T. Scott), list 41b 1 Mr George's Armourer, lOsfc 61b ... 2 Mr Read's Druid, 9st 3 Germaine was scratched. Won in a common canter. Time, 3min 8 2-sths sec. Dividend, .£1 11s. Hack Hurdles, 15 soys. Mr Gibson's Olga, list 1 Mr Cameron's Puritikei, list 2 Rustic and Walk Over also started. Won easily. Dividend, £1 16s. Autumn Hhndicap, of 50 soys ; second horse 5 soys from the stakes ; 1£ miles. Mr P. Tancred's Cupid, Bst 1 Mr T. Bristol's Camomile, Bst 6lb .., 2 Mr D. Scott's Ahua, Bst 71b 3 Camomile went to the front at the fall of the flag and led into the straight for the last time, when Cupid and Ahua overhauled him. Then a desperate finish ensued between the three of them all the way down the straight, Cupid gaining the judge's verdict by a head in the last stride, the same distance separating Camomile and Ahua. Time, 2min 57sec. Dividend, £2 4s. Hack Flat, 15 soys ; once round. Mr Gibson's Minnie, Bst 101 b 1 Mr Scott's Delphine, 7st 7ft 2 Mr Wraight's Mistake, Bst 41b ... 3 Queenie, Puritikei, Fermoy, Hukatia, Crofton, and Ivy Leaf also ran. Won very easy at the finish. Dividend £2 18s. Publican's Handicap, 30 soys. Camomile, Bst 101 b 1 Richmond, 7st 131 b 2 Germaine, 7st 91b ... ... ... 3 Citpid, Armourer, and Peter also ran. Won comfortably by a length. Dividend £•1 11s. Hack Race, 10 soys ; f -mile. Olga, Bst 61b 1 Delphine, 7st 81b 2 Mistake, Bst 31b 3 Minnie, 9sb 31b, also started. Won easily. The rider of Minnie was had up before the Stewards and severely reprimanded through her unsatisfcctory running. Dividend, £1 13s.
