This district has been doing wonderfully w fail lately. Marriages are quite 4he order of the day and kerosine tins -are in great demand. New buildings -are going up in all directions. Mr <Joldfinch has just completed a iittudson>e residence on the Valley road, Mr Pearee has nearly finished one on i;he Taonui road, and several others in the district also intend building shortly them being a Feildiug Knight of the Cleaver. On Good Friday a great many sportsmen visited these parts and I believe « jme yery good bags wer* obtained. The Ashurst Minstrel Troupe gave an •entertainment in our school-house on Monday evening last. There was a -very fair attendance considering the counter attractions in Feilding, the Minstrels acquitted themselves very -well, the side jokes and local hits feeing par excellence the gentleman Mfho enacted the pa? t of ' Bones" gave a solo with them which was simply marvellous. Our school is closed this week, but It will be opened next Monday by the sew master, a gentleman just arrived from Canterbury.
