Feilding State School

The annual meeting of householders for deceiving the report -of retiring committee »nd balance sheet and electing a committee for the ensuing year, was held in the school house on Tuesday evening. Mr E. Goodbehere was voted to the chair, and read the report and balance sheet as below. Both documents were received and adopted. REPORT. " Your Committee in making this report have to state that owing to the great reduction in the amount of capitation reby the Cotnuiittee, we have not 'been able to do much toward any improvements to the school. "The school was examined in September by Inspector Bindon, when the lower ■classes passed fairly well, but the higher were very unsatisfactory, so much bo that the Committee sent a recommendation to the Board for a more competent -head master. 7as Your Committee have to report that •during the year a change in the assistant mastership, also at the end of the year the head teacher and assistant mistress Tesigned the positions they held in this ■school, so that the school re-opened after the Christmas holidays under a new head teacher and assistant mistress. There r has been a falling oft in the attendance toward tne latter part of the year, and 'owing to sickness the school was closed tfor two weeks. " Your Committee have also to report :that the buildings are getting out of repair, tthe floors of lobbies are nearly worn out, jand roofs of both lobbies leak badly, they aieed covering with iron, the shingles on •the bid part of the school are getting rotten and will need recovering soon, the fences are in a fair state of repair but owing to the Committee having no funds for repairs they are bound to get out of "Order." balance sheet. "Total receipts.— £42 12s sd. Total •expenditure, with balance in hand of 5s 3d, £42 12s 5d." The election for the new committee then took place, and the ballot resulted in the following gentlemen being elected : — Messrs Morey, Watts, Gould, Hicks, H. Worsfold, A. R. Curtis and Reading. Mr G. T. H. Lyne was also nominated. An ■unanimous vote of thanks was passed ■to the auditor, Mr Clapham, and with the usual compliment to the chair the meeting terminated.
