The Concert
Pressure on our space precludes our being able to give a full report of the grand entertainment given by the Wellington Touring and Concert Party in the Feilding Assembly Koomslast night, or to give a description of the performance of each individual who took part therein. Nor is the latter necessary, inasmuch as all did so well. As was predicted, there was a very full house, and from the hearty applause that followed the rendering of each item on the programme, it was evident the audience thoroughly appreciated the efforts of the Wellington visitors to entertain and amuse them. The following programme was gone through in tasteful and capital style :— Quartette, " The World is but a Broken Toy," Misses Katharine Hardy and Alice Widdop, Messrs E. J. Hill and E. L. Widdop; Song, "The Quaker," Mr Edward L. Widdop ; Pianoforte solo, Miss Alice Widdop; Recitation, " Kissing Cup's Race," Mr F. W. Haybittle ; Song, " Tell Me, My Heart," Miss Katherine Hardy ; Song, " A Free Lance am I," Mr Walter Haybittle ; Song (comic), "I took it," and for an encore " It's Quite Another Color Now," Mr W. D. Lyon; Duett, a selection from " The Bohemian Girl," Mr E. L. Widdop and Mr E. J. Hill; Song, " Mistress Prue," Mr Widdop; Monologue," The Reception," Mr F. W. Haybittle ; Song, Miss K. Hardy ; Hesitation, " A Silver Wedding," W. Haybittle ; Song, "The Better Land," Miss E. L. Trehair Osborne ; Song (comic), " His Funeral's To-morrow," and for an encore " What a Bit of Ltnk," Mr W. D. Lyon; Quartette, "You Swear to bo Good and True," Misses Katharine Hardy and Alice Widdop and Messrs E. J. Hill and E. L. Widdop; Song, "Twenty Years Ago," Mr E. J. Hill; TrioEccentric, Messrs W. D. Lyon, F. W. Haybittle and Walter Haybittle ; " God Save the Queen." The accompanists were Misses Hardy, Osborne, and Alice Widdop, and Mr P. Levi. While our Wellington friends will doubtless have enjoyed their tour in this district they will have cause to remember with pleasure their visit to Feilding, and may expect a warm welcome whenever they may again make their appearance.
