School Committee
A meeting of the Feilding School Com- j mittee was held on Saturday last. Present — Messrs Watts (chairman), Worsfold, and Banger. Several members were unavoidably absent. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The head teachers usual report was read, showing: — On roll — Boys. 166; girls, 130; total, 305. Attendance — Boys, 113;, girls, 93; total, 206. The Inspector's Report on his " surprise" visit was read, and showed the school to be in a very unsatisfactory state as regards the lower standards. Besolved, That the further consideration of the Inspector's Eeport be held over, to be dealt with by the incoming committee. Mrs Pinsent waited on the Committee and complained of the treatment her daughter had received from one of the masters, by being beaten on the arm with a ruler. Besolved, That the head teacher's attention be called to the complaint of Mrs Pinsent. Accounts amounting to £1 7s were passed for payment and the meeting adjourned.
