Railway Accident

A serious accident occurred yesterday afternoon at the railway crossing just above the Eastown station. Ab the 4.45 p.m. train for Palmerston was nearing the crossing a little boy named Guildford was crossing the metals, and being unobserved by the driver, was caught by the;cowcatcber of the engine, which knocked down but did not go over him. Medical aid was called in but he died shortly afterwards. — Chronicle.
