WELLINGTON MARKETS

Wellington, Marcb 16

George Thomas and Co. report produce prices as follows : — The constant fluctuation in quotations of late have a serious effect upon the volume of business transacted. Buyers are placed in such a position as to be quite unaware as to a purchase made turning out a profitable venture ; consequently trade is restricted to entirely retail limits. An impression prevails that there is nothing to warr. nt au immediate advance, consequently it is more than probable that prices will shortly rule at old figures again, viz., .£lO 15/- for roller and £9 10/- to £10 for stone process. A slight stiffness is noticeable in the oat market, while potatoes show a downward tendency. Oats, 2/7 to 2/9 ; oatmeal, £13 to £14 ; flour, £10 to £11 10/-; fowls' wheat, 3/8 to 3/11 ; bran, 4/10 ; pollard, £ » to £5 5/- ; feed barley, 2/9 to 3/- ; pearl, barley, £19; maize, 3/10 to 4/ ; }>eas, 3/6 to 3/8 ; beaus, 3/7 ; split peas, £15 ; rye grass, 3/6 to 4/- per bushel ; cocksfoot, 3d p» r lb ; Italian rye grass, 2/6 per bushel ; potatoes, £4 10/- to £4 15/- ; onions, £6 to £7 10/- ; eggs, 1/6 per dozen (scarce) ; honey, 4d to od ; hams and bacon, B£d ; cheese, 5d to s£d ; fresh butter, 9d ; salt do, 7d to Bd.
