The premises of Gibbs, Shallard and Co., printers, were partly destroyed by fire last night. Heavy damage was sustained before the fire was extinguished. The insurances amount to £33,060.
At Coraki, a town on the Richmond River, a man named Grady attempted to kill another man named MoLennou with a knife. Failing in the attempt, however, Grady committed suicide.

The damage by the fire at Gibbs, Shallard and Co's is estimated at £10,000, The South British has a risk of £1000.

It is understood that after the genera' election Government will make a preliminary grant of L2OOO to enable Vic toria to be officially represented at Dunedin exhibition.
