c Bulls, March 8 We have to report very large sale d of sheep at Murton and Palmerstoi during the week, both yards Uinf c filled to overflowing. At Marton th< - sale was very brisk, bidding spirited and nearly everything sold under th< I hammer. At Palmerstou thougi nearly everything was sold, auc 1 mostly under the hammer, there was s decided drop in the prices, more not- • ably among the lambs, which up tc l then had met with such keen com- , petition. Cattle were yarded at botb 5 sales ; prices lower thau ever. Our , horse fair at Palmerston was well at- ' tended, and where the reserves were moderate, and horses good, as was the ; case with those bi ought by Mr William Hammond, they were sold under the hammer, Mr Hammond only having to take two hack out of the large mob he brought. We quote : — Sheep. --Marton : Four and 6-tooth Eomney ewes, 7/3 to 8/3 ; Mr Leithbride's Lincoln ewes, 2 tooth, from 8/9 to 9/1 ; 4 tooth, from 8/8 to 8/10 ; 2 and 4-tooth wethers, 7/9 to 9/6 ; breeding ewes, 7/1 to 7/3 ; lambs in wool, 4/6 to 6/- ; shorn lambs, small, 3/8; Lincoln rams, l£gs, to 2gs. Palmerston North : Two-tooth Romney ewes, 8/4 to 9/1 ; 2- tooth Lincoln ewes, 6/9 to 9/-; 4-tooth to fullmouth ewes, 7/- to 7/9 ; fat ewes ,7/6; fat wethers, 7/2 ; wooly lambs, 4/4 to 6/- ; shorn, 4/2 to 5/6 ; Lincoln rams, lg, to l£gs, Palmerston horse fair — Good hacks, £7 4/« to £10 10/- ; weeds, £3 to £5 ; draughts, just hauled, £10 to £18.
