The Earthquake
TO THE EDITOR OF THB STAR. Sir, — An unusual feature (in my experience) connected with the earthquake which occurred yesterday at about 12.28 p.m. was the fact that the shock, which waß short and sharp, did not take plaee until five or six seconds had elapsed after the cessation of the prolonged rumbling noise which preceded it, the muffled sound of which evidently indicated that the disturbance took place at a greater depth ! from the earth's surface than usual. — I am, &c, Saml. Goodbehere.
