Clerical Divorce Suit
The Divorce Court will shortly be tho scene of a divorce case in. which a clergyman is the petitioner and an ex clergyman the respondent. It appears that the petitioner, who is an able, much-respected man, and had charge of an important congregation at Home, found that the wife of his bosom was not all that could be expected of her, and that her relations with another ' clergyman of the same denomination were not quite proper. Forgiving his wife, and resolving to tear her away from the other partner of her affections, he threw up,, his charge and decided to sail for New Zealand. What was his horror when, on the passage*, he discovered that his wife's iriend had also thrown up his charge and was on board too? Landed in New Zealand the petitioner soon found a charge in Hawke's Bay, where he became a most popular pastor and preacher, and the praises of the pas* tor's wife were sounded by all the congregation. The other rev. gentleman did not again enter the church on arrival in New Zealand, but sought refuge in the Civil Service in Wellington, where he was accommodated ■with a good billet. Communications were maintained between the respondent in Napier and co-respondent in Wellington. The husband little dreamed of this, and thought all was well until the other day when his wife suddenly departed to her distant lover taking with her the two youngest children, and her husband haß now no option but to sue for a divorce. A. more indulgent husband there could not be, and he has the sympathy of all who know him in his trouble. The case will come out at the next sittings of the Divorce Court. — Woodville Examiner.
