Proposed Hunt Club
••■•A meeting of gentlemen interested in (he formation of a JH,unt Club for Feilding and district was held at the sample rooms Hastie's Hotel, on Saturday evening last., Mr E. Goodbehere was voted to the chair, and after reading the advertisement convening the meeting, said he thought it Avould be a good .thing to start, a hunt club in' Feilding, as there were" a great many gentlemen in the district who would doubtless be ..only too glad to join, and there were also a number of good and suitable horses. ....'. The Chairman caUed'upon Mr Lovejoy, who explained that he had . called the meeting" fot the^suggestion of several gentleme»- f who' wbuld like to join the club, and also for similar reasons to those' stated by the . chairman. . He read several letters he Ijad received from persons willing to join.. ;, J;-'-v'". , " A*"*letter was read from Mr Paul Douslin, secretary oflllenheimHunt Club : , offering a draft of 10 hounds from the pack of said club for .£l2, the name, age, and pedigree of each respective Hound being stated. Dr Charlton enquired as to the probable cos? of carrying on the Club,. In reply to the 'question Mr Roake gave a few detaSls/and. made a very reasonable offer l to keep, train, and hunt the hounds for the first year as a start. The chairman thought the first step was ito enquire of the farmers and settlers with reference to their permission to hunt over their grounds. On the motion, of Dr Charfton, seconded by Mr Lance, Messrs Carr, Macmillan, and Perrot were appointed for the above object, and to report at the next meeting. Mr MLovejoy was appointed honorary secretary pro tern. Mr Roake read a list of 42 gentlemen whohafl already. expressed their readiness to join the Club, which, with those who had that night given in their names, made
