The Collision in the Channel
By Electric Telegraph. — Copyright" ! I'BK UNITED PREBB ASSOCIATION, i London, February 6. The barque Larg-o Bay, bound for Auckland, came into collision with a steamer in the Channel. It is believed that the steamer went down immediately with all hands, as nothing was seen of her after the shock. A passing- steamer picked up the barque Largo Bay, and towed her into Spithead m a sinking condition. One of the apprentices was drowned. February 7. It is feared that a hundred lives have been lost by the sinking of the steamer which collided with the barque Largo Bay, in the English Channel. It is now believed that the steamer which collided with the Largo Bay m the English Channel was the screw steamer Glencoe, 1901 tons, owned by McGregor, Gow, and Co ,of Glasgow. The steamer was in ballast, and had 52 souls on board
