The Government intend to re-arrange, and will probably increase the Native Land Court judges with a view to relieving the pressure of business, especially at Wanganui and Gisborne. The Maoris are stated to be largely availing themselves of the last Session's Act. Havelock. February 8> John Languyar, engine-driver to Messrs Prownlee and Co., cut his throat this morning. He had complained of being ill, and was found by Mr Brownlee at his house in a pool of blood. At 9. 50 he was still alive, but unconscious. Chbistchuhch, February 8. The wool sales have been stopped owing to buyers again refusing to buy unless farthing bids are introduced. As the train was coming down from Sumner thii morning, the engine went over the line at the cutting, nearly overturning into the sea. Fortunately no one was hurt, the line and engine were damaged. Dunedin, February 8. Hannah Brown, 60 years of age, was found by her neighbours in a state of collapse. At the inquest, a verdict of of death from natural causes, accelerated by exceasiye drinking, was returned.
