MANCHESTER STREET LETTER BOX.

TO THE KOITOR OF THR STAR. Sir, — I wish to call attention to the times of clearing the letter box at the Borough Council office. The first clearing takes place at 10 a.m., whereas no mail closes after that till 11.45 a.m. In the afternoon the box is cleared at 4 o'clock, only about half an hour before the closing of the mail for the south. Why should not a later hour be fixed for clearing the box to meet the mid-day mail for the north, say close at 11.80 a.m. ? As it is at present there is no consistency, and a good deal of public inconvenience is the result. Surely it could make no difference to the Department to alter the time as suggested. — I am, &c M Krino.
