STEVENS & GORTON'S STOCK REPORT.
Bulls, January 21
Press of business prevented our sending our usual report last week : — Our three sales at Bulls, Palaierstou, and Awahuri -were well attended, we had very fair entries at Bulls and very fair at the other two places, and every sheep was sold excepting a small pen of wethers paseed in at 9/- At Bulls cattle were very dull of sale, but we luanaged to quit a good many ; doubtleaa the great cause is the present low price of beef, but we think beef will rise during the next few months. If so we may look for an improvement in store cattle. We quote the following rates for the different sales : — Cattle.— Pac cows, £3 7/6 to £3 15/6 ; forward bullocks, £4 2/- ; 3-yea steers, £3; 2£ to 3-year steers, £2 12/- to £2 19/-. Fat heifer^ £3 ; year and 18-month steers, 29/- ; 2year heifers, 35/-; year and 18-month heifers, 25/-. Sheep. — Fat wethers, 9/9; fat ewes, 7/6 to 8/- 2-tooth mixed, 7/- to 8/- ;' woolly lambs, 5/to 5/9 ; ewes and lambs, at per head shorn, 3/9 to 5/- ; breeding forward ewes, 5/7 to 6/6 j 2-tooth, 7/6 ; we offered several horses, but there was> no improvement in prices.
