Yesterday afternoon a man named John Crocker met with a fatal accident whilst working in Mahoney's gravel pit on the Brunswick Line, by some earth fulling upon him. Assistance was promptly to hand, and the body recovered, but life was found to be extinct. Oanstable Crozier was sent up to get particulars of the case and to have the body removed to Tutty's Hotel, where the inquest will be held to-day at 11 a.m. — To-day's Chronicle.
