Acckxand, December 17. A little girl named Euth Beddle, twelve months old, was drownod to-day at Devon port, falling into a tub of water. A man named George Piggins was fined lA&ud costs at the Police Court today "for gross cruelty to a dog, tie seized the animal by the legs and threw it with full force against a house and then killed it with a hammer, Wakganui, December 21. Mr Lloyd, a eohoolmaster, was sum moned for caning a boy named Bendell and fined 21s, with costs 9s, solicitor's fee 208, and witness* allowance 21s. Invehcabgill, December 21 As a result of the discovery of a tin ore a Port Pegasus (Stewart Inland;, 51 prospecting licenses have been taken out at the Land office. There are also nine applications for leases of 60 acres each. These will be granted when surveyed.
