A man named Griffen is charged with the brutal murder of a native at Esperance Bay. It is alleged that tfriffen, with the assistance of another black fellow, whom he compelled to take part in the outrage, did the native to death by pouring red hot cinders over his neck and abdomen, horribly mutilating him with fire and forked sticks. Griffen then knocked out what life remained in the unfortunate man by jumping on him till he was dead.
