Ladies & Gentlemen, — Having been requested by a large body of the independent electors of Feiiding to become a Candidate to fill the vacancy caused by the election of Dr Monckton to the position of Mayor, I have consented, because I believe I cau be of good service to my fellow burgesses. It will be my duty, if P am returned, to continue the policy of retrenchment recently inaugurated in the Council. The electors cannot be too careful in watching the Public Works expenditure, and I am opposed to burdening the ratepayers with new loans uui ess absolutely necessary, and proved to be, without doubt, for the good of the ratepayers and the Borough at large.
