-♦ The ordinary meeting of the above was held on Saturday afternoon last. Presenl - — Messrs Taylor (chairman), Williamson, Haythorne, Lucas, and Mills. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. From the Secretary of the Birminghjin Vigilance Committee, asking that a sketch plan of the proposed deviation be drawn out, and submitted to them for approval, «nd making suggestions as to the disposal of the thirds now due. From Thomas Lowes, stating a cortain plan had been left with Mr Bray. From A. C. Jensen, Foxton, applying for payment for felling bush. From F. Retemeyer, applying for permission to fall bush on roadline in front of section 29. Block XI. From W. Wilson, for same permission in front of section 33, Block XI. From W. Bell, applying for the name of H. C. Madsen to be put on rate roll for section 10, Block XI. From Percival Reid, applying to fell bush on roadline fronting section 14, Block XI. From H. Bilderbeck,' for same permission in front of section 35, Block XI. From R. Burne, applying for a slaughter license. From J. H. Hankins, accepting the Board's offer to Mr Ehlein. From J. Lynch, stating liis neighbors were against his felling the bush on No. 3 line without the consent of the Board. From District Survey office, Wellington, re 10 chains of fence to be erected. From Public Works Department, re boundary road between Kiwitea and Manchester Road Districts. From Colonial Secretary, re special nrder re-dividing the Kiwitea Road District. Re the petition from several members of the Foxton Small Farm Association, the Clerk was directed to reply that until particulars from the Government with reference to rates were in hand the Board «ould do nothing in the matter. j Proposed by Mr Lucas, seconded by Mr Mills, That permission be given to Messrs Wilson, Reid, Bilderbeck, and Mountfort to fell roadlines at 30s per acre, the tracks to be kept open, and payment to be made when funds are available. — Carried. The letter from C, J. Jensen was ordered to he on the table. The request of H. C. Madsen, re change of name on rate roll, was granted. Mr J. Belfit waited on the Board with reference to his metalling contract at the .upper end of Kimbolton road, and represented that he had sustained considerable loss through having to get his metal from a, much longer distance than he had anticipated, and asking the Board to make him some compensation. He was informed by the Chairman that the Board would consider the matter, and see what oould be done. Mr Elilein waited on lhe Board re matter referred to in the letter from Mr Hankins. Mr Lucas informed him that he would make a personal enquiry into the business. Mr Burne was granted a slaughtering license on the usual terms. With reference to the subject of Mr T. Lowes' letter, the Clerk was instructed to inform him that application for payment of thirds would be made as suggested, to be expended on the Association and Spur roads, according to promise given to Comsioner of Crown Lands. Proposed by Mr Williamson, seconded by Mr Taylor, That the Engineer call for tenders for Mcßeth's and Feilding track*--, and repairs to main road in Birmingham Small Farm Block, tenders to'be in by next meeting. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Lucas, seconded by Mr , Mills, That tenders be called for metali ling Valley road, from junction of Manchester boundary to junction of Zigzag road, tenders to be in by next meeting. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Taylor, seconded by Mr Lucas, That the sum of .£1 be granted to Makino ward for putting a foot bridge over the Kiwitea stream. — Carried. Tenders were opened for metalling 80 chains of Taonui road, and tlie tender of E. McDermott for 6 inches of metal at 21s 6d per chain was accepted. The matter of Mr Belfit's contract was discussed, and it was resolved that he be paid for the metal at the rate of 2s 6d per load. Resolved, That the Engineer take steps to have a survey of the land proposed to be taken from Mr Brown's property for Taylor's road. After passing accounts for payment the Board adjourned.
