The Timos-Parnell Commission will adjourn for the Christmas and New Tear holidays on Friday, the 14th. The inquiry will resume on the 15th of January. The Tories are very indignant at tho action of Lord Randolph Churchill in connection with his motion protesting .igaiust the Soudan campaign, and accuse him of attempting to spring a mine on the Government. Lord Onslow, the Governor-elect of New Zealand, is receiving residents from that Colony introduced by the Agent General, The commercial treaty between Great Britain and Persia i» the cauße of the strained relations between the latter country and Russia. December 6. Lord Randolph Churchill's motion was supported by the Home Rulers, the Liberals, and four Tories. The Times, in the course of an at tide on the debate, saya Lord Randolph Churchill was justified in opposing the Soudan campaign. Mr John Bright, who has been indisposed for some time past, is reported to be sinking. The Governorship of South Australia has been three times refused. Reports have reached Wady Haifa that the White Pasha has left Bahrel-Ghazel for the north. It is believed at Cairo that the White Pasha is Stanley. Russia is colonising Abyssinia. At a meeting of the Grand Lodge of Freemasons, Lord Carnarvon moyed, on behalf of the Prince of Wales, that the lodge should recognise the union of the New South Wales lodges. The motion was carried. H.R.H. the Prince of Wales was elected patron. Several London papers assert that the condition of Suakim and its unsuitabihty as a post for European soldiers has aroused an inclination in Government to abandon the place till the power of the Mahdi has become threatening enough to compel strong measures against the dervishes. They urge Government either to abandon the town altogether or coicert measures for the purpose of effectually crushing once and for all the forces which have so long been threatening Suakim. Paris, December 6. Another attempt was made to-day to dynamite a Parisian registry office. The attempted outrage was unsuccessful. General Boulanser denies that he haß formed any alliance with the Orleanists, and declares that he is a Republican only. It is reported that M. Clemenceau is intriguing to upset M. Floquet. Berlin, December 5. The Minister of War has announced that a considerable increase in the German artillery is contemplated in consequence of the sudden increase in the armaments of others Powers. Washington, December 5. The Secretary to the Treasury, in his report to Congress, insists on the necessity of readjusting the tariff. The Senate has resumed the tariff discussion at the point where it was broken off last session.
