All the Western districts are suffering terribly from drought, and bush f fires are raging in every direction. : The Goulbourn district is threatened .; with a water famine. - --- The bush fires in the neighbourhood -of Dubo and Qilgandra have assumed > immense proportions, the country < being swept by flames for miles. -■• Coupled with- the drought the fires are •-_ -pausing great distress and consternation throughout the country. The property of farmers and squatters in - almost all the inland districts is burnt up whilst the water famine already 1 prevails in some districts and is r - threatened in other parts of the interior, and thousands of sheep and •cattle are dying, and the stock routes ju the various directions are absolutely strewn with decaying carcases of sheep, which are being " travelled" . in search of feed. In many districts ■ owners are glad to give away portions of their flocks, in the hope of preserving a little feed for the remainder. . Unless rain falls very soon a general widespread disaster must overtake the ■colony.: -
