Wellington Land Board

A meeting of the Land Board was lield on Thursday. Present — Messrs Marchant (commissioner, in the chair), W. A. Fitzherbert, Vv W. McCardle, H. Bunny and D. H. Macarthur, M.H.R. The Commissioner stated that 65 licenses had been extended from 10 years to 14 years up to the present date. Permission was given to the selector of block IX., Pohangina, to complete his title. The application of 0. Maulboe (section 76, Block XIIL, Apiti) and W. Isles /section 36, Block XVI., Mangahao) to capitalise were approved. A number of applications to transfer were granted. The question of price and tenure of land applied for by Mr J. Smith was again considered, and it was resolved that the price should be £2 cash. Messrs Bartholomew and Dunn applied for a timber license for 300 acres m the Horrowhenua block. It was decided to set aside 300 acres and grant a timber license for three years under the forest regulations, amended to meet the case, on payment o£ 83 per acre. Mr Or. Whitcomb's application for lease of the reserve opposite section 23, Block XII., Maugaho, was again considered, and it was decided not to reduce the price from £5 per acre. It was decided to offer land applied for by Mr R. R. Meredith, under the Act of 1887, weighed with £49 for value of improvements and £20 cost of survey, at a price of 5s per acre. It was de» cided to oancel the license for section 90. Block XL, Kopuaranga, and reoffer the land at £2 per acre, weighed with £219 10s value of improvements. The Pahiatua Road Board forwarded amended proposals for the expenditure of the accrued thirds in the Masterton* Mangaho, Masterton- Hawera, \Vood-ville-Mangaho, and Woodville-Man-gatainoko special settlement blocks. With regard to the Masterton-Man-gaho, it was decided to approve the proposals, and request the Road Board to carry them out. The propowils with respect to the other diatriote were approved. Mr Maoarthur s motion respecting capitalised speoial settlement thirds was postponed till naxt meeting. After some further business the meeting adjourned.Xtnrtf.
