Football
A match was played at Awahuri on Saturday last between the Palmerston Gymnasium and the Awahuri olubs, in which the latter team proved victorious for the first time, winning by three points to nil. The winners played with the wind in their favor in the first term, and after about twenty minutes play, R. Parr made a good pass to J. Robinson, who ran in and scored a try. Robinson took the kick himself and placed a goal from a very difficult angle. For the remainder of the spell the visitors were penned in their 2o's most of the time. In the second spell Palmerston kept their opponents on the defensive all through, but were unable to score. For the winners Whisker, Robinson, Kewe, Dribery, and the Bennett Bros, played splendidly. For the losers Oliphant, Cook, Lyons, Smith, Gordon, and Clarke played the best game.
