I FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT.] A meeting of the above was held on Monday last. Present - Messrs Lucas (Chairman;, Bennett, Reid, Nairn, and Stewart. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE . From Mr Grant, recommending J Nairn as cadet to the school. From the teacher, intimating that a female cadet would be useful for the position, and naming Alice Weightman and Rose Lucas as suitable. From the same, stating a box of crayons, slate pencils, pens, and blot- ; ting paper were required. | From the Secretary of the Palmerston A. and P. Association, offering free admission to the school children on the show grounds on the 15 th of November. From Inspector Bindon, re Martha Gage. From Mr Weightman, enclosing 14s for use of school-room for Anglican services during quarter ended September 30. The letter from Mr Nairn caused some rather warm discussion to take place between the writer and the teacher, when the matter was dropped. Proposed by Mr Reid, seconded by Mr Bennett, That a female cadet be recommended to the Board for e appointment.— Carried. Proposed by Mr Lucas, seconded by Mr Nairn, That, whereas it is more desirable to have a female cadet to assist in the teaching of this school, the Chairman write to the parents of Alice Weightman first (she having the priority), asking them to allow their daughter to be recommended for the position of cadet to the school, and, in the event of their refusing to allow their daughter becoming a cadet, that Rose Lucas be recommended — Carried. Proposed by Mr Stewart, seconded by Mr Reid, That the offer of the Palmerston Agricultural and Pastoral Association, to give the children free admission on the loth November, be accepted with thanks, and that the teacher be requested to giye a holiday on that day. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Reid, seconded by Mr Bennett, That the Chairman write to parents of the children who are in the habit of smoking on their road to school, drawing their attention to the same. — Carried.

Resolved, That a box of crayons be got for the teacher, and that the children be notified that, on account of the reductions of the school fund, they will have to find their own slate pencils and blotting paper; also stating there will be a holiday on Nov. 15.

The usual accounts for the quarter were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned.
