Wesleyan Tea Meeting

A tea meeting in aid of the circuit fuuds was held in the Wesleyan Church, Grey street, on Tuesday'evening. There was a large patronage, including a good number of visitors from other places in the district. The provisions were of a most sumptuous character, and were prepared l>y the ladies of the congregation, who presided at the tables. The many and various good things provided were apparently fully appreciated by the guests. After the tea, the annual meeting in connection with the Home Mission fund was held, presided over by the pastor of the church, the Rev. T. N. Griffin. Addresses were delivered by the Rev, W. Tinsley, of Palmerston, and the Home Mission deputation, the Revs. W. Cannell, of Marton, and W. J. Watkin, of Wanganui. There was a large attendance, and the speakers succeeded in thoroughly interesting their audience. The pleasure of the proceedings was enhanced by some musical selections, which were very nicely rendered by the choir, assisted by several members of other church choirs. Miss E. Fraser and Mr Milson each Bang a solo, and Mr and Mrs Milson a duet, in a very pleasing manner. After the usual votes of thanks to all and sundry who had contributed their quota towards making the affair a success, the meeting terminated by the benediction.
