George Thomas and Co. report as follows :— The market for flour continues firm at old rates, and we note that the tone of prices for shipping wheat is of an upward tendencj ; the great difficulty now experienced is the scarcity of freights. Oats main* tain last weeks' values; holders are inclined to further advance prices for guaranteed parcels of good short grain. New potatoes are freely offering at £14 per ton. We quote prime short oats, 2s 6d to 2s 7d ; long do, 2s 4d to 2s 6d ; oatmeal, £11 10s to £12; sheaf chaff, £4 ; straw do, £3 ; flour, £10 10s f'»r roller, and £9 10s for «tone process, in sacks ; wheatmeal, £10 ; fowls' wheat 2s 9d to 3s 5d for broken and whole grain respectively ; hr&n, £3 15s; pollard, £4 ; feed barley, 2s lOd ; pearl barley, £19 ; grey peaa, 3s 3d; split peas, £15; beaus, 3s 4d ; onions, nominally worth £7 ; Derwent potatoes, £3 1 5s to £4 ; kidney seed do, £4 10s ; Hioese 4d to 5d ; hams and bacon, factory 7d, farmers' 3d ; fresh butter, overstocked, 7d ; salt do, very little sale at 8d ; eggs, 3d per dozen ; lard 5d per lb ; honey. 4d to sd. The arrivals of fruit have been confined to Sydney and Fiji desoriptions (with the exception of rhubarb, which is ruling at 4s per <lozen); Sydney oranges ruled from 5s to 9s; mandarins, 7s 6d to 10s 6d ; lemons, 8s to 10s ; bananas, from 3s to 6s 6d per bunch ; cocoanuts, 7s per sack ; peanuts, 2£p per lb ; limes, 7s per case ; dates, 4£d preserved pines, 2 la per case. Poultry is in an active inquiry ; fowls, 3s 3d to 3s 6d ; turkeys, 7s 6d to 8s; and ducks 4s per pair.
