STOCK REPORT

At Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co.'s sale here on Thursday a large entry of cattle were yarded— over 800 head. The bidding was dull, excepting for grown up bullocks, which was brisk. About one half of tbe total entry was sold, but the reserves were, in some cases, too high. All the sheep were sold with tbe exception of one line of ewes and lambs.

Cattle. — Bullocks (3-yr-old), from £3 5s 6d to £3 15s ; one line of half fatted bullocks brought £4 15s ; store cows, 38s 6d ; 2-yr-old steers made £2 os to £2 12a; yearling steers, 30s; weaners, 15s.

Sheep. — Fat wethers, 14s ; store wethers, lis 6d ; hoggets, 8s 6d to 9s; store ewes, 7s 6d.

Wanganui, October 11

All the store stock yarded during the fortnight have sold at an advanced prices. The bidding for cattle at the Wanganui yards yesterday was animated, resulting in a capital sale. Sheep are without quotable change. Pigs are scarce at full rates. A very few horses came forward on Saturday. Good useful sorts are well competed for, but draught animals are neglected.

Cattle.— At Waverley : Cows, £2 ; heifers, £1 9s 6d and £1 1 3s 6d ; weaners, 9s 6d and 12s 6d. At Wanganui : 3-year-old steers, £3 10s ; 2-year-olds, £2 10s and £2 7s ; yearling steers, 27s 6d. Sheep.— At Waverley : Hoggets, 9s and 10s 6d ; ewes and lambs, 12s 2d. At St Hillstreet : Fat light wethers, 14s and 14s 9d ; store wethers, 12s ; ewes and lambs, lis lid. Pigs. — Baconers, 87s to 59s ; porkers, 18s to 245. Poultry. — Ducks, 4s; fowls, 2s 9d to 3s 3d the couple.
