A FAMINE IN EGYPT.

In addressing a meeting, Mr Dillon declared that recent legislation had inspired the landlords with new cour age, and he appeals to the tenants to strike one more blow to support their rights. Dr Tanner, M.P., is inciting tbe people of Tipperary to redouble tbeir tactics of boycotting, and to banish the land-grabbers from Ireland. It is reported that the Emperor William will pay a visit to England next Easter. _ In the course of an article the .fail Mall Gazette compliments Emperor William, of Germany, on the pacific nature of the speeches he has delirered since ascending the throne. The Economist considers that the reckless management of the Bank of New Zealand should be a warning to other financial institutions against advancing money recklessly on proper* ties, the value of which has been unduly inflated, A miners' agent, speaking at a meeting of the men in Derbyshire, said 300,000 colliers were prepared to go on strike. It would be tbe greatest strike ever known. New Zealand 5 per cents are quoted at 105£ ; New Zealand 4 per cents. 102£. Suakim, October 7. G Blame expressed an opinion that the union of Canada with the United States was inevitable, but it was necessary that Canada should take the initiatory steps in that direction. Sydney, Octoberß. Two yachts were capsized in tbe Unr* bour to»day, and one of the occupants, a youth named Osborne, was drowned Melbourne, October 8. Through the capsizing of a yacht on Lake Victoria, a man named Jones, Mrs Wilson, and her son were drowned.
