The match between the Englishmen and a South Island team, was played at Dunedin yesterday. The Englishmen won by five points (a goal and two tries) to three (a goal). The return match between the Awahuri club and the Feilding 2nd, will be played on the Oval on Saturday. Players are requested to bfl on the ground at 2.30 sharp. Following are the respective teams: — Awahuri : Backs, Kiwi, Driberg, Moses, Martin, C, and H. Bennett ; forwards, Casey, Sanson, Knight, Mangu, Clark, Perry, Johnny, Tapu, J. Bennett. Feilding : Backs, Bellve, Watts, Dixon, Halcouibe, Robinson, R. Parr ; forwards, Poad, Campbell, J. Whisker, Pitavy, Corkery, Bailey, Collins, Fitzgerald, Crook. A letter has been received from the Wanganui Rugby Union by the Secretary of the Mauawatu Rugby Union, stating their unwillingness to play the Manawatu team on Saturday next, for fear of some of their men being disabled for the match with the Englishmen. It is probable a match may be arranged for the following Saturday.
