O'Driscoll, local secretary to the Committee ofthe 'Kvic.ted Tenants' Fund, forwarded a cheque to-day-for £100, as a contribution from friends in Timaru, to the secretary of the fund at Dublin. Chbistchubch, September 19. The Cathedral Chapter state that it will require £750 to restore the spire and repair the damage done to the t-athedral by the earthquake. They intend appealing to the public for subscriptions. Dunedin. September 19. A young man named Henry D. Plant was killed on the Roslyn cable tram this evening; It is supposed be was walking up the line through a cutting on the town belt, ana, the wind being strong and. the dust blowing, that be was stooping so much that he did not see the approaching tram car coming down, which ran over him. He was taken to the hospital and died shortly afterwards. The young man was a compositor in the Witness: office, and his parents are believed to be in Timaru. This Day.
