[We are not responsible for the opinions of our correspondents.] MANCHESTER ROAD BOARD. TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAR. Sir, — Will you kindly insert these (ew lines in reply to Mr Macarthur. In his letter of the 11th inst, he svould like to convey to the ratepayers " ' ;hat be was supporting them in their mdeavors to get their roads made. I im sorry Mr Macarthur should take lp that position for bis own credit, aa ;he experience of the past years, and . he present state of the .roads' in 'this part of the ward, clearly prove how ; nuch assistance the Settlers have tc-' reived from hiro, and how false the position he now trys 'to take. Let aim aak any settler on the Feilding- ■ VBunnythorpe road, br.Ytbe Taonui -:■ road, and he will find they have but ane opinion on this subject, and. that ,; ia: as long as Mr Macarthur retains a : s jeat on the Manchester Road Board their chance of a road is small -indeed. ...'■. Fhey have one thing to thank hihi ' for, , namely : the • special rate they Y. aave to pay for the roads made in the [until lately) unsold portions of -the i Corporation Block. — I am,'4c., Walter.
