Although there are are not much 8 funds to spend judiciously, or to waste, yet it seems to be ah important crisis in the history of the Borough. What with washed away or closed bridges, <fee, the aspect is not very cheering. The best side of Feilding is certainly not that which will first catch the eve of a person (. seeking a desirable location. There is j much that a properly constituted Council , , can do to remedy this state of things, ;l | mean a council of upright and honourable t : men who will commaud the confidence of - the majority of the ratepayers, and who - will seek the advancement of the Borough, ) and not the fads of any individual,, clique, . or party. With such a council, loan proposals for bridges, footpaths, mettal- ' ling, &c, might safely be brought forward. In conclusion, I would suggest * to the ratepayers that if the record of old s councillors for business and independence > is considered satisfactory, vote them back > ' again if they have experience, if not, t ' then try new brooms. — I am, &o. > j ' Roll up to thb Poll.
